The official name is Autódromo José Carlos Pace, but everyone knows it as Interlagos! And to be fair, it is one of the most iconic circuits! Brazil has been known for Formula 1 for many years; we always provide special drivers. Interlagos is our special bond with Ayrton Senna since it is located in his and my hometown, Sao Paulo! And Senna does not need any introductions! With 4.309km, it is a relatively short track, so 71 laps are needed to hit the official grand prix distance of 300km. There are 15 official corners, although the last few blend into each other and are all taken at full throttle anyway.

It is known as one of the best circuits on the F1 calendar. Partly because the undulating, sweeping corners are a hit with the drivers and because it tends to produce brilliant wheel-to-wheel action. If you look up the layout, you’ll also notice the main straight isn’t straight but somewhat continuously curved. So the drivers don’t get a moment to relax on the pit lane, which is what we want to see! It’s nice to mention that this format was delivered emphatically in Brazil last year: Kevin Magnussen claimed a sensational pole position for the sprint race. At the same time, the Grand Prix provided a maiden victory for George Russell in a rare (these days) Mercedes one-two finish.
