The Las Vegas Grand Prix makes a comeback to the Formula 1 calendar in 2023, a strategic move by Liberty Media to expand into the lucrative United States market. It’s highly likely that this decision is influenced by the sport’s surge in popularity, thanks in part to the colossal success of the Netflix show ‘Drive to Survive.’ Consequently, for the first time, the category takes on the responsibility of promoting a race, promising to make it one of the most luxurious and distinctive events on the calendar.

The drivers are set to tackle an all-new circuit in Las Vegas, showcasing the best the city has to offer, including the iconic Strip. Las Vegas has a history of hosting two F1 races in the past, known as the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, in 1981 and 1982. Notably, the city hosted the season finale on both occasions. The Williams racing team boasts two victories in these races, with Alan Jones claiming the win in 1981 and Michele Alboreto securing victory at the 1982 Grand Prix. Moreover, Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosberg clinched the championship titles in ’81 and ’82, respectively.

Nestled in the heart of Las Vegas, the new 6.2km, 17-turn circuit winds its way past iconic landmarks such as Caesars Palace, Bellagio, and the Venetian. This strategically located track is expected to deliver thrilling action, with average speeds anticipated to match those of Monza, famously known as F1’s ‘Temple of Speed.’ The prospect of plenty of action and overtaking has sparked excitement among the drivers, making it an eagerly anticipated event!
