“Melancholia” explores profound sadness and emotional turmoil. Historically known as depression, melancholia manifests as persistent sadness and despair, leading to feelings of isolation and withdrawal. This condition symbolizes deep introspection and a journey through emotional pain, searching for meaning amidst personal turmoil. It is a beautiful and inspirational journey, not a romantic drama.

Through its storytelling, the production prompts contemplation of human emotions, the toll of personal struggles on mental health, and the search for healing amidst despair. Both the psychological concept and the drama draw parallels in exploring how individuals navigate their own melancholic experiences. On a personal note, Lee Do-hyun delivers a deeply touching portrayal. I’ve been following his career journey since “The Good Bad Mother,” “The Glory,” and “Exhuma,” and I’m continually impressed by his growth and talent.
