The show’s gripping stories and characters make us think about our choices and values. It’s a thought-provoking journey into what it means to be human when everything goes wrong.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, this film sparks questions about survival instincts and human behavior. Lee Byung-hun’s performance is outstanding, although it might sound repetitive from my perspective, as I never seem to get enough of his talent. His versatile acting in this role is undoubtedly another highlight of his impressive career. Director Um Tae-hwa takes a darkly funny, sometimes tragic view of the future. The title is somewhat ironic because while concrete can shield from natural elements, it can’t defend against human actions. It’s a troubling lesson: none of us are immune to the allure of fascism if we can be persuaded, even subconsciously, that certain evils may be justified.
