What a beautiful production! Handsomely staged period drama. The cinematography, the general composition of the scenes, and the location—on that note, it really reminded me of the “Mr. Sunshine.” The camera angles and movements were all beautifully done, making it impossible to care about the slow pace and sometimes the little boredom from the political struggles and evil ministers aplenty. Jo Jung-suk is truly delightful and an outstanding actor; I enjoyed his portrayal in “Hospital Playlist.” Shin Se-Kyung also impressively executes her role, delivering a fantastic performance. She maintained her voice tone consistently throughout all the episodes, showcasing superb acting skills. The series unfolds the tragic love story of a desolate king, surrounded by a lack of trustworthy allies and threatened by both royal and political power struggles. His journey takes an unexpected turn as he finds himself falling in love in an unreliable or perhaps unforeseen manner. The name is perfect, “Captivating the King!”
