As Gerard Pique announces his retirement, there isn’t much I need to say. Perhaps a simple thank you for the countless Sundays of “El Clasico” shared with you. Admittedly, I was always on the other side, staunchly supporting the white team, but the memories of the competitions, the fierce battles, and the post-match analysis will forever linger. I’ll continue this post with Pique’s own words from today, November 3, 2022, the day he revealed his retirement:

“Fans, it’s Gerard,” says the defender in a social media video that has been viewed more than a million times in less than half an hour. While footage from his childhood, including a 1992 meeting with former player and coach Ronald Koeman. He goes on to explain how he always knew he wanted to be a Barça player, ever since he was a child. I always said there would be no other team after Barça, he says. “And that’s how it’s going to be.”
