While faced with the inevitable question of preference, I found myself entranced by the movie’s allure. The cinematography, reaching a level of true audiovisual delight, exemplifies the power of ‘less is more.

One of the most captivating aspects of this production is the extensive, uninterrupted takes, coupled with the exquisite portrayal of everyday details. Set against the backdrop of the ‘Roma’ neighbourhood in Mexico City, a city that never ceases to amaze! The narrative seamlessly weaves moments of daily life with broader historical and political contexts. A notable instance is Cuarón’s recreation of the tragic 1971 Corpus Christi massacre, where over 100 student protesters were killed by army soldiers. Truly, a must-see production!
