Pages, Screens, and the Art of Feeling

I often linger on the moments that have shaped my freedom to write. In 2015, I began this blog—a quiet corner of the world where ideas could unfold without restraint. I carry no formal title as a literary scholar, academic, or professional writer, yet I write because my heart insists. Words stir my soul. Imagination stretches beyond the edges of reality, vast and untamed.

At work recently, we shared what sparks joy in our lives—what kind of work makes our days feel whole. For me, the answer is clear: I want to write. Short stories, blog posts, film critiques, journalism, books, or screenplays—each form feels like a brushstroke, painting narratives, weaving perspectives, breathing life into fleeting ideas. Scriptwriting, though, holds a special allure. There’s a quiet thrill in crafting a world through dialogue, letting subtext carry unspoken truths, and watching characters step into their own existence.

Stories are alive. They carry us to distant places, shift our inner landscapes, and reach beyond the ordinary. A single, well-woven tale—be it a screenplay, an essay, or a film critique—can summon laughter, draw tears, or kindle a conversation long waiting to be born. It can challenge a heart, cradle the weary, or whisper reminders of our shared humanity. For me, dramaturgy has been a lifeline, especially through the pandemic’s shadowed days. When the world trembled, it offered solace. When all else wavered, it gave me purpose. Oh, my cherished Mr. Sunshine—how you steadied me.

And so, I write. Because I must. Because I love it. Because it’s how I hear the stories pressing against the silence.

What stories call to your soul? What worlds long to take shape through your hands?
